Under normal operation, the EPB Calipers will be deactivated when all of the following conditions are met:
- Ignition is on / vehicle is running
- All safety criteria are met
- Foot is on brake pedal
- Door is closed
- Handbrake not applied
- Seatbelt is on
- EPB switch is pressed downwards / away
The Electric Park Brake switch operates via a push/pull method. Refer to the table below for operation of the switch.
The diagram below provides a simplified overview of the wiring layout for the ESPB6 kit, showing how the key components — including the EPB Module, Interface Module, EPB Caliper Motors, EPB Switch, and the 12V battery — connect together within the system.
Use this as a reference when installing, inspecting, or troubleshooting the ESPB6 wiring. Always ensure all connectors are fully seated, the wiring loom is undamaged, and connections match the layout shown before powering the system.

The ESPB6 module allows you to retract the rear caliper pistons to their starting position, enabling the rear brake pads to be changed. As the ESPB6 uses Interface Modules with built-in safety features, follow the specific service mode process below.
- Turn ignition on.
- Be seated in drivers' seat & ensure all ESPB6 Safety Features are enabled.
- Once enabled activate service mode by:
- Push in ESPB switch continuously for 15–20 seconds. (Note: Aim for 17 seconds as ideal duration.)
- Release the button fully after the 15–20 seconds, then push in (press) the ESPB switch within 1 second of release.
- The ESPB calipers should now be releasing, and the electric motor will stop once it's wound back as far as it can go.
- For added safety, remove the fuse located on the Positive (+) Battery terminal wire.
- ESPB calipers will now be in service mode to change the rear brake pads.
- Ignition can now be turned off.
- You will need to manually push the caliper pistons back. This is no different to performing a brake pad change on a standard caliper.
- Once the brake pads have been changed, pump up the brake pedal.
- Install fuse located on the Positive (+) Battery terminal wire.
- Turn ignition on.
- Pull back switch (pull to release electric park brake) continuously for 5 seconds.
- Calipers are activated and will find their natural position.
- The ESPB caliper function 2–3 times to ensure they are clamping and releasing correctly.
- All the safety features are fully functional.
The images below illustrate the correct switch positions referenced throughout this procedure.
(Turning ON Electric Park Brake)
(Turning OFF Electric Park Brake)
- Complete basic checks
- Complete applicable reset procedures. NOTE: If fault not found, please take your vehicle to the workshop technician.
- Use troubleshooting guide to assist in identifying the issue
- Component process of elimination — replace the following ONE at a time to determine where the issue may be:
Common reasons for the EPB to not operate correctly are:
- Not all the safety criteria are met
- Low battery voltage &/or poor terminal connection (Positive / Negative)
- Calipers are out of sync
- Caliper motor plugs are damaged / not connected correctly
- Wiring loom damaged or installed incorrectly
- O.E. vehicle fuses are blown (only applicable for interface module)
- Vehicle has other aftermarket accessories added and is interfering with the EPB
There are multiple reset procedures that can assist with resolving issues of the EPB system. Apply these in order before proceeding to the full troubleshooting guide.
